The North Face built its Rolling Thunder 30in Gear Bag tough so you can travel with it for a long, long time. Bomber Base Camp materials work with the plastic bumpers in order to keep wear-and-tear to a minimum while you're navigating cobblestone streets or catching a flight in a teeny jungle airport. The zippered external compartment stores dirty clothes and shoes so your clean clothes don't get ruined and the zippered external pockets are perfect for items you might need at a moment's notice like your passport or phone charger. The internal mesh pockets split the main compartment for better organization, and the sherpa strap connects to backpacks and duffel bags for extra convenience.

I had the previous gen version of this same roller (without the hard shell) and was very pleased. I travel quite a bit for work (over 125k miles/year) and after wearing out my first NF roller, I was looking for a few good years out of this one . This crack happened after a few domestic flights - it's only @ 5wks old. Working with Backcountry on warranty/return and they are very helpful and the reason why I shop here...

This is a great bag. Actually i have used it in all my hiking trips mainly abroad. I have had it for more than a year and it is super durable and highly resistant. Very spatious lots of room for your clothing and gear. The straps will keep your items in place. Also it has the perfect number of pockets. Easy to transport and definitely stands out. I Highly recommend it!!!!

I love this bag. It's super durable and fits everything you need. I recently took it to Belize for a week and it held up great. I packed snorkeling gear, a wetsuit, and a bunch of clothes and the bag was awesome! The handle pulls out easily and the wheels worked well on sand.

I have the rolling thunder in three different sizes, the carryon and the two larger check bag sizes. They are my go to for adventure travel. They are highly durable, look great and keep your gear safe. I tested the water resistance this August when they were in the back of a pickup heading up to a refugio in the Argentinean Andes in a blizzard. All my gear and clothes arrived safe and dry!

Well, loved the bag when I got it, love it when I rolled to the airport, loved it when I checked it on Delta......the love stopped when I saw my bag on the carousel after its first flight. Absent a ramper for Delta taking a hammer to the wheel, it appears to be a design flaw. The wheel was completely ripped out of the plastic housing. Metal and plastic is not exactly what i expected from North Face,,,,but if they were going for "Cheap and made in China:, they achieved the mark on this bag. It you do not travel with this bag and just sits in your closet, it is the perfect bag.

I was given the 22inch carry on size and loved it so much, I had to buy the bigger one. I've had luggage that has lasted one trip and that's it, but with these bags, I never have any worries about that. These are super durable and fit everything i need.

Rolling in amazing, handle with buttons on both sides is killer. I agree that the bag scuffs easy. I have the black, maybe this is different with other colors. After a few trips on the plane it is pretty scuffed up, but no actual damage yet. It is kinda heavy being that it is just a big duffel bag with a frame, but when i pack it full i never go over 45lbs, so flying has never been an issue.

Bought this in black and after only one flight overseas, it was very scuffed up with areas where the paint was gouged out. After flying back, it got scuffed some more, even though the bag was labeled as “Fragile.” It is now a patchwork of large scuffmarks that are not black and areas where the coating is gouged out. I am doubtful that it is water resistant now, as the bag was advertised. Would not recommend buying this given its lack of durability.

Love this bag. Family of four with two toddlers, so we travel with lots of accessories. The rigid back frame is great for protecting sun shelters and tents. Lots of pockets for last minute items. Two sets of interior straps. The only con is it is heavy so be aware of the weight limit for air travel. We love it so much we are going to get the 22”
