One of the lightest snow helmets available today, the Smith Maze MIPS Helmet offers the same ultra-light feel and minimalist look as the original, but with an added safety system that improves protection. The Multi-directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) allows a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner when impacted at an angle in order to decrease rotational forces, while the In-Mold construction minimizes weight and bulk without compromising impact protection. The nine fixed vents and AirEvac system let you keep cool on warm spring days and intense hikes, and the self-adjusting fit system offers a comfy, secure fit. Snapfit SL ear pads can be removed during heated park sessions, and they're Outdoor Tech audio system-compatible (sold separately) so you can turn up the jams while you surf powder stashes.

Love the addition of MIPS to this helmet for added protection! My head never overheats, but still stays warm! This helmet easily fits with my Smith I/O's!

Keeps my head warm but doesn't overheat. I smacked my head going through a tunnel (feel free to laugh) and I got a minor concussion. I dented the helmet but can't imagine what would have happened if I weren't wearing a helmet or if it didn't have MIPS. Would definitely buy again.

Love the Maze helmet, especially with MIPS for even more protection! It is comfy, and super lightweight, it hardly feels like I have a helmet on. I've had a few slams this year with this helmet and can say for certain that it has saved me from a few concussions. Definitely recommend this helmet

This helmet is low profile. It's small and compact and protects all the important parts of your head. You can't go wrong with MIPS and should always protect your brain.

Okay, so I admit I went through a phase where I just wore a beanie while snowboarding. Dumb, I know. But after loose fitting, or bulky and heavy helmets cramping my style, I was a little burnt out. But then I remembered how light the Smith Allure was - it was just the wrong size for me (same size for men + women), and ordered this one in a white in a medium, and it was perfect!! The MIPs is key, too. I love the simplicity and skate influenced design, and barely feel this helmet (seriously, I had to touch my head to make sure it was there a couple times!) The ear pads are nice too for warmth and protection, although a tiny bit hard to hear my partner sometimes. Overall, a sweet helmet and I'm super stoked to protect my head again. Just last week I biffed it pretty hard and was so glad this had my back - felt nothing where I might have gotten a concussion! Works great with the POC orb goggles or Oakley Prizms. Super happy with this!!!!! Edit: The only small downside I can think of is that since the vents are kind of minimal and small, snow can get lodged in there sometimes, or the ventilation can be inadequate with high spring temps + I do a lot of bootpacking and run very hot (I'm totally a cold weather person). So if you are big on having a ton of ventilation options, I would look at some of their other helmets such as the Vantage.

When you can make the complicated simple and have style, you know you've done something right. Love this simplistic MIPS helmet!

Great helmet at a great price. Super durable and a nice fit, goes well with Smith helmets. The vent control is a great feature for this as well, and really sold me on the helmet. It works! I love it.

I run cold and this helmet alone keeps my head plenty warm (in single digit weather I was fine without a hat underneath). I love having the extra safety of MIPS and a seamless fit with my Smith I/O MAG Goggles. Overall, this helmet is a super solid choice.

This helmet is awesome. It isn't overly bulky or looking like you have a massive helmet on. It is really low profile and minimalist. It has a great fit. MIPS was the high selling feature on this helmet along with the fit, just for that added safety benefit on harder crashes (which hopefully won't occur!) It is super comfortable, and fits true to size if you follow the size chart!

You really can't go wrong with a ski helmet, period. The Maze is a great option and is a solid price point for having MIPS. The helmet comes with ear covers, but is all removable so you can customize how the helmet really fits on you. Beanie underneath, or no beanie underneath, the choices is yours.

this helmet is great! the sizing seems to be a bit small, and they are pretty limited when it comes to adjusting them, other then that they are great!

This helmet is a dynamic duo when paired with any Smith snow goggles. I got the Smith I/O MAG goggles and they fit like a charm. I am used to bike helmets, which I normally wear a medium with adjustments. Since these are not as adjustable, I went with a large and it fits great.

This is a great MIPS helmet. Low profile and with simple features like vents (which do not adjust) make this a great option for the rider who doesn't want all the bells and whistles - just reliable protection. The only reason for 4 stars is that the fit system does not allow for as much adjustment as other Smith helmets, such as those with a BOA adjustment. I was in between sizes- wish I wasn't!

This is my second version of the Maze helmet. I've had an older version for years and loved it. It's simple, light and effective. They've only upgrade it with the MIPS version- maintains the qualities of the previous version and gets a little safer!

Not a big fan of the bulky helmets. I don't need all the bells and whistles, just something to protect my dome! This is the one for you if we think alike. Super lite weight, warm, ear flaps for speakers, comfy, decent vents(non adjustable) and mips. Having a friend almost lose his life from head trauma, don't mess around and just get protected either way!

This is my third Maze helmet in 5ish years. It's comfortable, lightweight and low profile. I bought a Quantum earlier this season and it's great, but I went back to the Maze as it fits my head better and weighs less.

I just moved from Texas to Utah and haven’t skied much so I knew I needed a good helmet! I went with this one bc I liked the style, price, and the AirEvac system to avoid fogging (I wear glasses/ OTG goggles). The only improvement I can think of is the Removable Goggle Lock. The piece plugs into the helmet and I would prefer it to screw in securely. The lock itself doesn’t have a catching system for your goggles when you’re off the slopes—so my goggles have fallen off walking to the car. With that being said, this helmet is comfortable and keeps my ears warm! I haven’t tried out the audio system yet but maybe in the future.
