Visibility is bad enough on storm days. The SmartWool Merino 250 Balaclava defends your head and neck from blustery snow without decreasing your field of vision. Constructed with merino wool, this balaclava keeps you toasty while interlock knitting minimizes chaffing. The super-soft fabric feels wonderful on your face and slides easily under helmets and goggles, so you’ll forget it’s there while chasing fresh powder.

Very uncomfortable seam runs down the middle of the clava. SHAME ON BACKCOUNTRY FOR NOT PICTURING IT. Horrible design. Sending back. Have other Smartwool products that are great. This isn’t.

I got this Balaclava for my sister for sleeping at night while backpacking. She had this to say: I always end up feeling a draft on my face and it particularly bugs me. I have a long, narrow face so this doesn’t fit as tight as I would have hoped - the face opening is a little loose and floppy. If they did have two different sizes I would have definitely got the smaller one. But, true to Smart Wool this little baby is warm, soft, and delivers on cold nights in the backcountry.

This thin wool facemask protects the face from frostbite without fogging your goggles.
