The Shimano SH-GR5 Mountain Bike Shoe takes your flat-pedal game up a level, allowing you to pedal with purchase you can trust while still being able to drop a foot when things go south. The sticky rubber outsole provides excellent traction on flat pedals, and if you have to hike your bike your balance will be far better than walking on cleats. The high-traction tread provides plenty of grip, while inside, the optimized shank plate provides plenty of rigidity for efficient power transfer between you and the pedal. An EVA midsole provides cushion to keep your foot comfortable on and off the bike, while the upper part of the shoe allows plenty of airflow to keep your foot from overheating.

The comfort is very nice for a trail shoe. They grip the pedals great but aren't too soft, easy to re-adjust on the fly if needed. I've put about 35 miles on them so far and my pedals have yet to tear up the bottom of these. They also handle getting wet very well and dry up fast.
