Ideal commuting pants should be comfortable to ride in, durable, stand up to the elements, and be able to walk into the office without turning a head (except maybe if it's to say "Daaang, those are some boss britches!"). The Pearl Izumi Versa Pants do just that. With DWR treatment they will let rain roll right off, and Transfer Versa fabric construction provides optimal moisture control, so you can stay dry and comfortable on the ride. You'll be happy to find that the two standard front hand pockets are secured with zippers, along with a zippered side stash and zippered rear pocket, so you can keep all of your essentials secure on the commute. A gusseted crotch moves seams away from the sensitive spots, enabling them to withstand the abuse of your saddle day in and day out and increase durability.

Maybe the most important features on the Versa Pants are the smallest. The pants sport small reflective accents, because ultimately any commute is instantly made better when the two-ton road beasts we share our ride with can see us, and give us the space we need to arrive safely. Subtle reflective accents can be all it takes to help catch the eye of drivers, and their strategic placement allows the pants to pass at work without looking gaudy.

I just picked up a pair of Pearl Izumi Versa Pants and I'm beyond happy with them. Usually i'm a jeans traditionalist, favoring raw denim that is very uncomfortable for the first several months of wear at least. The experience of putting on the versa pants was the first time was very different in that they were soft, stretchy, and comfortable immediately. But for all that comfort, they pants are not baggy or sloppy, The fit is trim and neat and the pants would not be out of place in an office or at a casual restaurant. there is very little sag. Gripper in the waistband keeps things in place with or without a belt. All the pockets but the left hip pocket have zippers, so things will not fall out, and the phone pocket on the right thigh is a good touch. I expect to wear these a lot for riding and every day.
