I have several R1s myself, and decided to get one for my Wife and one for my Sister in Law as Christmas presents. These are perfect midlayers, with something thin underneath and perhaps a down jacket on top. The warmth to weight ratio is exceptional. The high collar on these garments makes them functionally perfect for keeping your neck warm outside. Finally, the beautiful colors make a great fashion statement. If you like Purple, this is the year to pounce! Purple becomes a Patagonia "collector's item" in future years, due to its rarety.

I love this fleece! It is slim fitting so meant to be close to your skin. I am still able to fit my wool base layer under it which is a perfect combo for the slopes. This fleece is also cute enough to just wear with jeans too. Love the material on the inside! It is super soft and stretchy. My only negative is I wish they had better color options. But overall really awesome technical layer.

I was looking for a longer mid layer for snowboarding and this fits the bill. Cozy, warm and flattering cut. I found the sizing to be accurate. Patagonia, in general, runs a little smaller than other brands. But the small still works well for me and I have enough room for a base layer underneath it.

If the song Patagonia released doesn't convince you to buy this, then I don't know what will. Google it if you've never seen it! You'll get a bad case of FOMO. This thing is perfect and I love the length. I use it primarily for camping and climbing. It's a great layer and breathes well! Add a windproof shell and it's perfect for cooler temps. I look forward to adding this to my layering for winter, but it's already done fantastic by itself in the desert! I also love it traveling as it packs somewhat small and adds a bit of warmth on those unexpectedly cold days. I've worn it quite a bit since I bought it and I can safely say I'm addicted.

I used the R1 Fleece Pullover this weekend, and while this was only my first adventure using this fleece, I can confidently say that I love it and would suggest it to anyone. I was able to wear this fleece in a number or settings on our trip and I have found it to be very versatile. It was perfect to wear over a base layer and under a thicker coat. It kept me warm on our sunrise hike, wicking away moisture as the hike got more difficult. I highly recommend this fleece to anyone who gets outdoors often. I only wish I got a size smaller!

You really cant say anything negative about the R1 pullover. The Polartec grid fleece is light against the body and keeps the sweat off while you are active -- I have been wearing this hiking in cool weather and it has performed great and dries quickly after sweating. I like the tall neck because it provides extra warmth so I don't have to wear an additional neck cover. I am usually between a medium or large top depending and after trying this on in both sizes I found I like the medium better because it fits comfortably under layers and keeps me warmer.

Patagonia nailed it with this one. It is a great warm, durable and cute piece. It is perfect for outdoor activities in chilly weather. It is very versatile and the fleece on the inside is so soft. I love the Vjosa Green color. I would say it runs a little big. I originally got an XS (my usual size) and it was pretty big on me in the arm area. I returned that and got an XXS and it fits perfectly! It still has room to layer under it if necessary.

I'm a big fan of the whole R1 series from Patagonia. This particular pullover can be used as a light layer in cooler weather or as an insulation layer under other jackets. It's nice and soft and does not bother my skin. The fit is great too - not too tight or loose. True to size.

I gave this is as a gift and she had this to say: Patagonia really makes quality clothing and this pullover is no exception, simply a fantastic piece of outer ware. The materials, zippers, and stitching are top notch and polyester material is nice against the skin. It fits me just right and I really like the single chest pocket, so handy.

I wanted to love this item. I did. But I feel like I always ended up putting it on and then switching to something else. For me it's an awkward in between a base layer and a mid layer so I never reallly know what to do with it. The zipper is also really long. The sweater is good quality, I just don't think I have a lot of use for it.

This jacket is perfect for fall and spring weather. I have used it for climbing, hiking, and is cute for just casual wear. Also great for layering in the winter months.

I have always ordered Smalls in Patagonia pull overs and can wear base layer under. This one fits odd. "plenty of room except the shoulders" are tight. The cut is not like the others. There is simply not enough room over the cap of the shoulder, makes it uncomfortable. I am 5'3 111 lbs and not a broad shouldered girl and really needed to replace my worn out previous version. Very disappointed.

Great color and well made, but it didn't fit (too big). I would try an XS, but the sleeve length was perfect on the small, so I'm thinking they might be too short on an XS.

This is the warmest/most versatile base layer I've found. It is perfect for colder days skiing, but also doubles as a great hiking and camping fleece. I purchased a small which fits comfortably yet tight enough to keep me cozy.

I needed a technical fleece to run outside in Maine in the winter. This fleece is amazing! I didn't think it would keep me warm, but it absolutely does. I wear a long sleeve underneath and have been able to withstand temperatures of 15 degrees. I purchased the lupine color and it's a gorgeous color. I purchased the medium and it fit my 5'5" frame 124 lbs.

Bought this for my momma because I absolutely love mine. It's super durable, stretchy, and moisture managing. I sweat my ass off in it whether I'm backcountry skiing or alpine climbing. The exterior is very durable, and the grid fleece interior wicks moisture fast so I can stay warm and comfy in sweaty situations.

This is the perfect all around go to sweater. It is incredible soft and comfortable. It has great movement so I love wearing it during my outdoor activities. It's that perfect layering piece that everyone needs in their closet. I wear this sweater all the time. whether it be to go out hiking or to just hang out in my living room. Would definitely recommend. I normally wear a small and this fit true to size.
