I bought this reactor 4 years ago and am still using it on a regular base. In my former job as a wilderness guide this was my life saver. It heats up water within minutes, no matter the temperatures (in summer it took 1 minute, with -15F it took 4 minutes). This helps to heat up hotties for a freezing night, boil and eat water and food in a short time to be back on the road or help out other people with their struggles. Every guide and adventure-outdoor enthusiast slowly transformed over to this MSR reactor. Sadly they're bought out so quickly every time winter comes around, if you get one - KEEP IT! Even the Jetboil lovers migrated over to MSR. The only Con I have: My 1.7l pot is too big for the smaller amount of food I need. It's hard for me to get to the bottom :D haha and the metal handle uses to fall off here and there. In general no problem as soon as you how to easily reattach it. It just gets annoying sometimes. But, bottom line: I have it since 4 years, I used it every day 3 times a day for 2 years and it still works! Where can you still find this kind of quality these days? A must have - a must buy! This is future, this is gold

Perfect size for melting snow for water or cooking for more than one person. So much easier than the 1 liter, but much more condensed than the 2.5L size. Perfect.

It has a max fill line at 1.0L mark and the last marking is at 1.5L. 1.7L would be all the way to the brim. So actually its a smaller volume than expected. Also the lid on the 1.7L doesn't have the same porting as the 1L and 2.5L that i've seen. The 1.7L I have only has one small port that you can't very well use to pour with. I guess its just there to vent steam pressure. There are also some other differences like in the lid handle. Otherwise the Reactor is a great stove system. Be sure to keep all of its components dry for storage.
