Like a T-Rex crashing its way through the forest after an elusive snack of prey, bomber enduro runs often mean tarrying on the ragged edge and within millimeters of any number of obstacles that may or may not yield when you hit them. The new Kask Rex Helmet is there to help protect your dome through it all so you come out of it with a clear mind, a bit of adrenaline, and a few scratches for future battle scar comparisons — dinosaur bites notwithstanding.

The Rex features Kask's MIT technology, which is found in all its helmet offerings and includes a polycarbonate layer covering the shell at the top of the helmet, along the base ring, and across the back for claims of improved safety and protection compared to helmets without this layer. Kask uses an in-mold process to fuse the inner, extruded polystyrene layer to the polycarbonate shell for excellent structural integrity and shock absorption. Inside the helmet, the plush Coolmax padding sitting comfortably against your noggin is removable and washable for long-term, stink-free use.

Borrowing from Kask's road line of helmets, the Rex's chinstrap is fashioned from easy to clean eco-leather for a unique pop of functional style. An adjustable visor protects your forehead from branches and debris, and doubles as a convenient shelf for goggles during shady stretches and long climbs. The Rex features a strap retainer on the back of the helmet for additional goggle security, and an integrated action camera mount makes documenting the adventure a breeze.

The strap design in the back of this helmet is no good. Whenever I change my head position I here a zip tie ratcheting sound.

This is a great fitting helmet with a little extra coverage. With that said it still vents very well and is fairly lightweight. Lots of colors to choose from if you're into that.

Not what I was looking for as a cross country racer. The Go-Pro mount is not removable, just coverable with the included cover. Looks cool with visor but very silly without. It's somewhat heavy (again for CC), but would be a good choice for enduro riding as the fit is excellent and the head coverage is super. Excellent construction as seems to be par for Kask. Going to stick with my beloved Protone for now on the mtb.

I've tried several other helmets and this one by far had the most comfortable fit! There are no noticeable pressure points, and it feels very secure around the head. It doesn't look to bulky or mushroom-y either. Ventilation seems decent, and the gopro built in worked great on a night ride! I like how the visor is sturdy and can easily be tilted up to set how you want it. One note- the gopro cover slides in and is a bit tight; to remove push down on the front tab, then slide the covering out by pushing it towards the front of the helmet.

I really love the fit of the Kask helmets. I started with a Kask Protone for the Road and followed up with the Kask Rex for the woods. I really like the Up & Down hinge fit adjustment - the retainer on the back you twist to tighten. It is comfortable and secure, so secure that I believe I could crash with the chin strap un-buckled and the helmet would stay on my head. The Eco Leather strap is 87 times more comfortable than a nylon strap. It is also super easy to adjust. (My old Bell helmet was a nightmare to adjust with the single strap where when you re-adjust it for your left ear it screws up the adjustment for the right ear.) I'm looking forward to mounting my head lamp in the built-in Go-Pro mount when the days get a little shorter.

I've gone through pretty much every helmet brand (Bell, Giro, POC, Lazer, Uvex, Specialized) and found that while some fit well, there were always compromises to be had. The Rex is the first helmet that just felt perfect as soon as i put it on my head. The retention system is in my opinion the best on the market, and it comes with a nice leather chin strap as well. I can't comment too much on ventilation besides that it seems at least in line with the other top ventilating helmets on the market. At 200, it definitely isnt cheap for a mountain helmet, but considering how much i ride its definitely worth it for the comfort.

The Kask Rex is hands down the most comfortable, well thought out helmet that I've ever owned. I've tried all of the top major brands and Kask nailed it with the Rex! It's very lightweight with a slim less bulky profile than many other brands. In the past I've had a difficult time getting the helmet to sit down on my forehead but still provide good coverage in the back and the OctoFit works perfectly. This is the first helmet I've seen with the amount of adjustability they offer. Well done! The Kask Rex is hands down the most comfortable, well thought out helmet that I've ever owned. 4 stars and not 5 only because of sweat displacement. They claim that the forehead pad keeps sweat off of the eyes, and while this does a better job than any other helmet I've owned, I still get an occasional bead running straight down my face. Other than that this is an incredible helmet with great features. The GoPro buckle on top is nice when used and almost unnoticeable when unused. The flip up and removable visor is great. The chin strap is extremely comfortable and the included bag is a nice touch to keep your helmet nice.

I wanted to love this helmet so bad! Good weight, great retention system, well ventilated and the coverage I needed. Plus I really wanted a blue trail helmet. All that aside, I have a slightly more oval head and although this helmet fit, it is definitely better suited to those riders with a rounder noggin. I found the fit to be similar to the TLD A1 helmet as far as shape, just wasn't for me, but if you have a rounder head, this helmet should be at the top of your list.

While I haven't been able to spend much time on the Rex helmet, it was apparent that they took ques from their road helmets to bring good ventilation over to a MTB helmet. As far as comfort, the padding on the Rex is thicker than most making it quite plush and comfortable. I found the Go Pro mount to actually be quite slick with this helmet. It sits low in the helmet making it not stick up as high, and be secure. The downside is that I had to have the bolt tension tight prior to snapping the mount in since I could not adjust it once installed on the helmet. It certainly wasn't a deal breaker though. All in all the Rex seemed like a good helmet providing ample protection in a lightweight, comfortable package.
