Industry Nine's new lineup of carbon disc road wheels is designed with four goals in mind: exceptional aerodynamics, stable handling, excellent ride quality, and the lowest weights possible. Lofty goals indeed, but it did go about it in a few new ways. These wheels are the first ones offered by Industry Nine that are built with carbon rims designed from the ground up for disc application only. As such, rim profiles and layups are optimized to minimize weight and improve both aerodynamics and durability, since the rims are free from the constraints of having to engineer for a brake track and the heat and pressure associated with rim brakes. These new wheels underwent a two-year development process resulting in wheels that are class leading and will help you get the most out of your disc brake road bike. If lightweight wheels and scaling mountain passes make your heart race, the i9 35 Carbon Disc Brake Wheelset - Tubeless are ones to consider.

Industry Nine is no stranger in partnering with Reynolds Cycling for their carbon rim expertise. After all, it has 30 years of composites know-how and in-house resources for aerodynamic development including CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software and aerodynamic experts on staff. Reynolds also uses Industry Nine hubs on some of their road and mountain wheelsets and the symbiotic relationship that exist with both companies allow each brand to build world-class wheelsets that minimize tradeoffs. With the i35's, the rim maximizes aerodynamic performance by generating lift at yaw angles seen in crosswind situations while exhibiting late stall angles. This provides stable performance in windy conditions, promotes confident handling, and allows this 35mm deep wheelset to exhibit aero performance on par with that of a much deeper rim. Wider road tires aren't going anywhere anytime soon and if anything, disc brakes encourage even wider rubber. The i9.35 profile is 29mm wide on the exterior providing excellent support and aero profiles for popular tire sizes ranging between 25-28mm.

Check out the weight or lack thereof. These i9.35's are able to achieve these low weights again by utilizing disc-specific range rims that don't have to cope with braking loads or the heat generated by rim brakes. And lacing those rims to Industry Nine's tried-and-true centerlock Torch Road disc brake hubs further adds to the weight reduction. Get on the gas and the 60 point, 6-degree engagement, 3 pawl freehub responds quickly. When you compare these wheels with other disc wheelsets in the same depth, you'll see the Industry Nine wheels come in at almost half a pound less than an equivalent wheelset. The rims are laced with 24 Sapim CX-Ray spokes in a 2:1 lacing pattern that helps equalize spoke tension and reduces fatigue-related stress on the rims and spokes.

We are so grateful tires have gotten wider and the benefits include better-rolling resistance and improved ride comfort. These i9.35's sport a 21mm inner width adding additional volume and lateral stability to the sidewalls. You'll be able to run lower pressures for improved ride quality, more traction, and better handling. Expect tires to plump up 3-4mm wider than their listed width without the weight penalty that normally accompanies a switch to a larger tire. The Easy Fit Tubeless design features bead channels and shelves that are optimized for secure tire retention as well as easy install and removal and you'll drop rolling resistance even more and reduce the chances of getting a flat. Getting rid of the braking surface also allows the rim to be built with Radius Side Walls. This allows for a convex shape allowing the mid-section of the rim to be wider than the bead walls or spoke face section of the rims. The results are a rim that acts as a leaf spring providing vertical deflection allowing for additional comfort without losing any lateral stiffness.

These new wheels now feature a lifetime warranty for the original owner. The hubs, spokes, and nipples are black and you can choose between 12 and 15mm front thru-axles and the rear comes as a 12 x 142mm thru-axle with an 11-spd HG freehub.

I've been using this wheelset for about 3 months now with 28mm GP 5000 tires and tubes. I've been quite happy with the combination. I mostly use the bike on rough roads and occasional smooth dirt and gravel trails. These wheels feel fast and comfortable. I don't know how these perform tubeless and with other tires. I will update this review in case I run into issues. I didn't like the decals on these, but fortunately these are just stickers you can pull off easily as you can see in the image.

I waited to write this review to see how the wheels perform. Having over 3k miles, I can say that I love these wheels! Excellent craftsmanship all around! The hubs are awesome and I actually got used to the sound-:) In the very beginning I was annoyed. Coming from American Classics, these are so much better! Very light and fast with continental 4000/5000. I was questioning the high price but now I am happy that I spent the $$$
