You've given bibs a shot, and no matter how you tweak them they just don't fit you right. The straps dig in, bathroom breaks are complicated, and they just seem to be oblivious to women's anatomy. Thankfully you don't have to resort to bibs just to achieve the high performance fit you want, and the Gore Wear C5 Short Tights+ for women prove to hold their own. These shorts optimize the balance between comfort and support, with highly breathable fabric, and a snug fit that holds your muscles when they start to get tired, so you can keep your focus on chasing down the finish line ahead.

The front of each leg on these C5 Shorts features a windproof panel, cutting through the breeze for better aerodynamics, while keeping the chill off of your thighs on cool spring days. The seams of the panels are designed to shy away from high-friction zones, keeping from creating painful rubs and chafing when you're out of the saddle and pushing for your breakaway. The hems aim for a seamless transition as well, utilizing a flat hem with elastic to grip your legs on bottom, and a wide waistband up top that locks into place in back with elastic, and skips elastic on the front to maximize comfort. Speaking of comfort, your sit bones will be pleased to find a women's-specific Advanced ROAD chamois supporting them through the miles. This chamois cushions in the sensitive spots, and minimizes pressure with cutaways elsewhere to provide the right fit to keep you comfortable for miles.

First ride in these shorts was 67 miles. No chafing, no hot spots, no soreness the next day. They sit high enough in the back to cover your crack and your love handles. Sticky legs keep them in place. The only thing I wish they had was a pocket.

I wore these for the first time on a 28 mile ride. They were very comfortable - no chafing - and they seemed to breathe well on a day that got up close to 90 by the time I finished my ride. The chamois seemed to be good but I want to test it on a longer rife. I bought the blue shorts with the white bands on the legs. The blue is a nice change from my usual black shorts and the white is a nice contrast that I think helps me be seen on the bike. I'm 5'7" and weight about 112 pounds. I wasn't sure whether to order the XS or S and went with the S after checking the size chart. I think the XS might have been too constrictive and am comfortable with the S.
