I am super stoked with this purchase. This helmet is seriously light weight and comfortable. I can leave it on all day and forget it is there. And it stays put! (Even when hanging upside down lol)

super light and the fit is amazing. Agree with another review that it doesn't look 'dorky' if that matters :)

I got this helmet for Christmas. Because of weather I didn't start using it until February. After the 5th use the plastic strap broke. Backcountry will not refund it because it has been more than 30 days since the purchase. Black Diamond has not responded to my warranty claim that I put in 3 weeks ago. I am left with an expensive helmet that I cannot use.

This thing is phenomenally comfortable... so much so I forget it is on half the time. I fell between sizes and ended up getting the M/L which was a good call as I could layer a beanie under it for chillier alpine climbs. The helmet is low profile and the lip does not impede my vision during multi pitch climbs. The helmet has a low profile on the head which also helps when wearing a non helmet compatible hood. The headlamp clips are adequate and I haven't had issues yet. The helmet does dent easily however every light weight EPP helmet I own does... The poly carbonate coated helmets dent nowhere near as bad as the petzl sirocco or other EPP non polycarbonate coated protective shells. I can shove this in my pack with no worries of it getting torn apart or cracked like my other EPP helmets.

I've owned a few different climbing helmets, but this is my favorite one. 1) It doesn't look dorky 2) It's super light 3) It's pretty cool (temperature-wise) The only downside is that it dents pretty easily. Take care of how you are packing it and if you're squeezing in off-widths and off-widths realize that it may get dinged up pretty quickly. Better than your head, though.

After doing a lot of research to find a helmet that would fit my large, oddly shaped head, I landed on the BD Vector and Vapor. Most climbing helmets claim a large max size is 61 cm, so I was immediately attracted to these two options. On paper, the vector and vapor both have a max circumference of 63 cm, but in reality, they are different. Where the Vector is just usable but not comfortable, the Vapor has plenty of room. I attribute this to the thinner shell due to the kevlar layer. It's extremely light and comfortable. While I have not tried too many climbing helmets, I have this issue with every hat, motorcycle helmet and any headgear (even some headlamps have too short of straps). So, if you're shopping for someone with a large head, the extra $40 is well worth the comfort this helmet imparts.

This is a super light weight helmet and will protect your dome. The air ventilation is CHILL! You can adjust the inside of it to fit your head perfectly snug. Bought this as a gift and haven't heard any complaints.

Love this helmet! Super light and comfortable and fits like a glove! Can adjust so I can wear a skull cap under it during colder parts of the year, and breathable enough to keep my head not sweaty during warmer months. No question it has gone with me on every climb and I've recommended it to friends, family, customers, and random climbers all over!

I've had the Vector for years and have loved it, but it was getting old so I thought I would replace it with the Vapor and I have not been disappointed. It is awesome! Comfortable, breathable, light weight. I highly recommend.

My wife is a former climbing guide who studied brains and TBIs, so she lovingly badgers everyone she climbs with to ALWAYS wear a helmet. It's disturbingly easy to injure your brain, and both you and your beloved climbing parters' brains are worth protecting with a good helmet. This is a great one. You won't wear a helmet if 1) it's uncomfortable, 2) it doesn't stay on your head, 3) it's too heavy or bulky to bring along with you, or 4) you think it looks dumb. The Vapor (or the Vector) fixes that and chips away at your excuses to not wear a helmet because 1) it is inarguably the most comfortable helmet on the market due to its ventilation, 2) its bombproof fit system (it won't slide into "lobotomy style") with a wide range of adjustability, and 3) its featherlight weight, which you nearly forget when it's on your head. It's so light you barely notice it in a pack. 4) If you're worried about looking dumb in a helmet, take a long, hard think about it. Being able to think and climb is great. Just wear the damn helmet. That said, the Vector and the Vapor are pretty clean and sleek, and you'll automatically look like less of a beater because you won't have an ill-fitting helmet flopping around, or even worse... a backwards trucker hat or climbing shirtless with a beanie. She wears this helmet herself, and puts everyone she cares about in one, too.

Wasn't one for having to deal with the weight of a helmet, but now I don't like not having this. I can barely feel it as I'm climbing. I've used both the S/M and the M/L and I have a huge head. I own the M/L I had to use a friends S/M because I forgot mine, yet with the fit adjustments maxed out, still fit my head comfortably.

This is the first climbing helmet I have used. Had gotten out of climbing for a while and at the time refused to wear a helmet. This thing breathes great and is super light. Do not feel like it affects me at all. Being easily adjustable is just a +.

Like most of the other reviews I agree that you hardly even feel it on your head and it is really breathable. The only downside to this is it is very fragile, during travel it got dinged up pretty bad. Just make sure you keep it well protected otherwise it can get beat up pretty quickly! Highly recommend it!

You only remember you're wearing it after your heading back to the car. So light, so comfy, thank you Black Diamond for a helmet worth it's weight in gold. I will probably make excuses for why I need to wear this thing, like, you never know when a bird has to go, it will protect my hair!

It's a super comfortable helmet that's so lightweight you'll forget you're wearing it. The vents also help with airflow when you're out climbing on a hot day. I do find that I have to be careful with it as it seems fragile and I have to pack it at the top of my bag so it doesn't get beat up by the rest of my climbing gear. Aside from this, I highly recommend this helmet!

The Vapor is so light and fits really well, even with a beanie on. You truly don't even notice it's there, which means there's no reason to not always be wearing it around the crag or in the alpine. Minor dents and scratches will happen fairly easily if it gets tossed around, but it's not too much of a problem.

Light and fits well. It is fragile but it's great for longer multi pitch climbs where every oz counts. Recommended.

I have used this helmet for several seasons now and I love it! It fits the head perfect with or without a hat/beanie and doesn't shift at all. Not to mention how light it is. Overall it is just really comfortable and you don't notice it is there. Highly recommend it. If you have any questions: email me: wbowen@backcountry.com or give me a call: (801) 204-4571
