Since 1971, Black Diamond has been refining the exceptional geometry of its Stoppers to provide micro-protection that stays put. Their bomber performance ushered in the age of clean climbing and has made them a staple of every climber's rack for nearly three decades. Rounded corners assist "cleanability," reducing the possibility of the nuts getting caught on irregularities inside cracks.

Don't get me wrong, these work. The issue is that other companies like DMM are innovating their nuts to sit well in every type of situation. In a perfect world these work, but the DMM Wallnuts work so much better in almost every situation that for no price difference at all there is no reason to buy these. Go read reviews on outdoorGearLab.com and they can explain it better. I place every single one of my DMM nuts before my BD stoppers used.

These are exactly what you expect from black diamond. Every rack needs a good set of nuts and these are perfect, enough size range to get you through lots of climbs and overall great quality. These will last a while

If you are just starting to dip your toes into the intimidating world of trad, you'll definitely want to invest in some stoppers. A good compliment to cams, stoppers serve as passive pro(tection) meaning that there are no moving parts to worry about. These work well in cracks or similar sections of rock and if the placement is bomber, these aren't going anywhere (pro tip: You'll definitely want a nut tool for these. It can be difficult to clean well placed stoppers because they just don't wanna let go of the rock. Nut tool makes it easier to dislodge the stopper so you don't leave any gear behind). This set of #4-13 is a good starter set because it gives you a good range of frequently used sizes for pro and directional pieces and makes a great addition to your trad rack.

Black Diamond delivers with the classic passive pro #4-13, which is the base for a solid trad rack. Simple design at a great price. Rounded edges make for easy placement and removal. I haven't memorized the color coordination yet but once I do I imagine it will be nice and convenient. Bonus: comes with a biner!

Bought this in a bigger set for a buddy, he said: I bought this starter rack to add to a set of nuts I had bought a month prior. Good way to get your foot in the door for trad climbing. Would highly recommend.

They're a solid bunch of Stoppers and definitely vital for any rack. They were one of my first piece of trad gear I had ever bought and will buy them again when I need to.

I have recently began to build a decently sized rack, but it all started with this stopper set. As I am still getting better at placing cams, I have found I love passive protection. I feel the best protected when I use a variety of protection ranging from passive, active, and natural in a route. Although this is not always possible, this set of stoppers fits my passive protection needs for the time being. Currently I am only leading easy trad routes. When I start climbing more advanced routes I will invest in other passive protection such as Hexes and TriCams. Regardless, these are a great place to start with passive protection.

The shapes are a good design. They are easy to free, often only requiring a tool if they've been fallen on. Colors are helpful, but there are so many of them I just read the number and judge the size. They are very light and strong.

These were the first pieces of trad gear I ever bought. I'm proud to say that they are still on my rack and being used frequently. Easy to place, Durable, Strong, and really cool looking! Plus, you get a nice oval wire to rack them on!

These stoppers are easy to place, durable, and the set seems to include every size you could ever need. Like all BD stuff, you can feel the quality when you pick them up, which is very confidence inspiring. I'll be a BD customer for life.
