For missions through the resort or into the backcountry, the Black Diamond Recon Stretch Ski Shell Jacket is briefed and ready for action. It's built with a BD.dry membrane that seals out snow while allowing air to flow, and has underarm vents for extra breathability when you need it. Four-way stretch construction encourages your full range of motion, while the adjustable hood and cuffs customize the fit. A removable powder skirt keeps snow from sneaking in whether you're falling on a groomer or sailing through waist-deep powder. Zippered pockets hold small items within reach while the internal mesh pockets let you stash your skins or extra layers.

I’ve tried on several technical shells for skiing... from north face, to Patagonia, arcteryx, Burton, you name it, and this shell by far fits and feels the best. It allows for enough room around the bust while still coming in just a bit at the waist, and fitting around the hips to give some curvature and not feel like a complete rectangle (and you can still layer up underneath). The arms are also the perfect length, along with the circumference of the wrist cuffs. These cuffs actually fit over mittens and (because of the arm length) don’t slip up while skiing like other shells do. I also love where the overall length falls, I am short (5’ 3”) and this jacket stops mid-butt - perfect coverage while skiing and still comes under a bit for sitting on the chairlift (really nice on powder days). I couldn’t recommend this jacket more!

Been skiing since before I can remember, and this is the best shell I have ever owned. It's super durable without feeling too stiff or rigid. Everything is perfectly fitted (hem, sleeves, hood, etc) and has draw cords/velcro straps to make micro-adjustments. It performs like a dream - I've had it in every condition and have never felt clammy or hot. The pit zips are awesome when you're touring hard in a storm. The exterior and interior pockets are awesome. Love it and definitely recommend it.

From someone who has a long torso, wider hips/shoulders and a smaller waist (AKA curvy), I find it very difficult to find a jacket that fits but also doesn't look too bulky and boxy. This is the perfect fit. I usually wear a L or XL in jackets and sized up to get an XL in this one so I could layer underneath. It is a little big, especially in the sleeves and waist but other than that fits great. I would say that the fit is true to the measurements but a little bigger than most jackets that are size XL. For long days in the backcountry, this jacket is ideal. Waterproof and breathable enough with vents in the right places. Zips up high when it gets cold to cover your neck and lower part of the face. There is actual stretch in this material and repels water as good as any 3-layer jacket. SO HAPPY with this purchase.

This jacket is functional and moveable. Due to its stretch in fabric it allows you to move the way you want for any outdoor activity. It offers great pockets for all your needs and is true to size. This is one of my favorite jackets for the snow.

I am absolutely obsessed with this jacket. I haven't gotten a chance to wear it out skiing yet, but I am so in love with it I had to post a review right away. I got a size medium, I am 5'9 with a long torso and arms, and this is a perfect fit for me. It is form fitting with still some room to layer with fleece or down jackets underneath. The length is perfect for my style, if you aren't super steezy and like your jackets long, but not too long. I am still so surprised it is a waterproof shell, it's so stretchy and comfortable. And it doesn't make that crinkle sound you get with a lot of waterproof shells when you move! I got this jacket to wear at the resort, and while I'm touring. I think it is going to be perfect for both! I recommend this to any girl looking for a nice, comfortable, weatherproof (and even warm) shell for skiing. I love the Wine color too! Pictures of me actually using it soon to come!
