Great bag for a snowboarder. I personally love the design, features, and all the room. I’m not big on the roll top or the roll top not having padding. However I’m a snowboarder and my board nor my spare deck reach the roll top so it’s a non factor for me. Still holding together after a few flights and road trips.

Got the bag in fall of 2019, took it on two ski trips where I was flying and promptly returned it after. Agree with other reviewers that the padding only covers around 160cm skis, the roll down top offers no padding or protection to the tops of skis. The interior is not reinforced very well, my bindings wore a hole that went all the way through after just the two trips. Just seems to be made cheaply.

First, let me state my purpose, just because this bag won't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you. I am looking for a true 2 ski travel bag. I need to travel with one set of adult skis/poles plus my kids 2 pairs of skis 80cm and 90cm. I bought this bag and the Thule roundtrip 2 ski bag to compare. The backcountry bag is a quality bag with some cool features, particularly the zip storage that runs almost the whole length. Ultimately I have decided to go with the Thule for a couple of reasons. But mainly- I DON'T understand the roll top on the backcountry bag. I mean, it seems whomever designed this bag was trying hard to put out something different (in a good way) than other bags on the market. That said, what is the purpose of the roll top? My skis are only 164 and the roll top portion of the bag has no padding. Leaving your tips exposed in my opinion. Now, I understand that I can pack gear into the top of the bag to provide padding but I am going to do that anyway in the Thule bag and it still has padding in the top and I don't have this dumb roll top to deal with.

Got one of these in Fall 2019 and used it pre-COVID a couple times, including flying with it twice - it held up so much better than the Dakine bag I had before. Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about - I had two pairs of skis in it, one pair of 188cm Black Crow Corvus skis and one pair of 182 Atomic Redster X9s. They fit just fine. Thanks Backcountry!

Padding only covers around 160cm skis. Longer skis rise up into the folding handle area at the top where there is no padding. Also, it does not fit 2 pairs of skis in a comfortable way. No matter how you use it, either the ski tips or bindings are compromised. It does look good but the description requires more detail. Haven’t flown with it yet, but is very well made.
