Whether you're an experienced backcountry skier looking to upgrade outdated equipment or just gearing up for your first foray beyond the resort boundaries, you can't go wrong by equipping yourself with Backcountry Access' top-of-the-line T3 Rescue Package. It includes BCA's most advanced beacon, along with a lightweight shovel and probe. Now all you need is proper education, training, and partners, and you're ready to go.

The T3 beacon offers the same ease-of-use and reliability that made the Tracker 2 the standard by which other beacons are measured against, but comes in a thinner, lighter package. The thinnest multiple-antenna avalanche transceiver on the market, it can comfortably fit in a pant pocket or an interior jacket pocket if you don't want to be burdened by a traditional harness—but don't worry, BCA still included a harness in case you like to stick with the classics.

The shovel and probe are far simpler, but no less important; after all, you need all three to successfully locate an avalanche victim. The B-1 EXT shovel is compact and lightweight with telescopic aluminum blade and ergonomic T-grip handle. BCA upgraded the Stealth 270 probe this season, making the depth markings easier to read and giving it a stronger tip that penetrates dense snow more easily. And with its Quick-Lock hardware, the Stealth stows better and deploys faster than any other probe out there.

While having a full kit is infinitely better than relying on dumb luck, please remember that beacons, shovels, and probes are NOT a guarantee that you will survive an avalanche; get educated, learn how to use your tools, travel with trustworthy partners, and be smart out there.

When I first got into the backcountry and started earning my turns one of the first things drilled into me was the essentials checklist: beacon, shovel, probe. I've heard that a thousand times since and run through it in my head every time I slap my skins on and head out for an adventure. This kit is a great way to get geared up for ski touring missions with 3 quality pieces of gear that are built to last. The Tracker3 is one of the best beacons on the market, well built and durable, good battery life, and easy to use. The slim design doesn't feel clunky and is hardly noticeable when wearing the beacon, and the search mode is very easy to read with a multiple burial search option for the worst case scenario. BCA's Stealth probe is again all about ease of use, assembles very quickly and with a quick tug of the pull cord locks in place so you don't have to fiddle with it at all once it is ready to use. The shovel is simple, yet effective and nice and lightweight! I would highly recommend this kit for anyone who goes in to the backcountry, beginners to experts will appreciate the quality and functional features of all 3 pieces of gear!

When I initially moved to Salt Lake, I didn't have must direction on what to get for avy gear. This was a great start. This package has all your basics and will help save you and your backcountry partner if a slope slides. Pair this set with a backcountry ski backpack and some education and you're all set!

I bought this backcountry starter kit after renting and borrowing back country gear from friends. It works great for side country as well, the beacon is easy to operate and learn how to use, and the probe is great because you can lock the end of it once you have it assembled, meaning you don't have to hold a pull string at the end to keep it rigid. The shovel is good, although I wish the collapsing mechanism worked a little better, but when its unlocked into two pieces it fits well in a bag. I would highly recommend this product to people who are getting their first backcountry gear set!

all three items here are exactly what you need, nothing more nothing less. love of these shovels more than anyone elses on the market. The beacon is also fairly easy to use and pretty darn intuitive.

I bought this for my boyfriend for his first season of Touring and this is what he had to say: "The BCA Tracker 3 Package has been amazing. As always, I'm lucky to have never had to use the gear other than training, but it has been perfect for that. A great way to get everything you need at once. The probe and shovel are light weight and pack up nicely. The beacon fits and attaches nicely inside my jacket pocket and reminds me to shut it off when I forget (which is a lot). It also comes with a body harness that allows you to remove the beacon easily if going in to search mode (if you prefer wearing it that way). Perfect for a starter BC pack. "

It's cheaper to buy all of the items you need for backcountry split boarding at once if your new to backcountry skiing/slitboarding. This stuff seems to be super nice. This is coming from a newbee. The shovel: I have used the snow shovel for winter backpacking once. It's all you could want from a snow shovel: it fits in the pack very nicely and its super durable and collapsable. And I love the blue finish. Beacon: I've read through the manual and turned the beacon on and have initial impressions. It comes with batteries. It seems super nice. I will be using it in an avi 1 course in a few weeks. I did some research and it has a few extra features that aren't available on all snow beac models. It comes with a chest harness making it very secure and accessible while using. The Probe: Also very nice durable, sexy, and packable. There is a thick wire cable running through the thing and it packs down into a mesh bag with a zipper. The feel makes me think it will last for many years. I'll try to update this review once I use these items later this spring.

I bought this as a gift for someone getting into touring because it is a great set that is perfect for anyone that is either looking to re-up on the equipment that they own or are getting serious about backcountry exploration.
