Bagging big, burly summits call for serious protection, and it doesn't get any more serious than the Arc'teryx Alpha SV Bib Pants. The tough, high-density weave, nylon main body fabric stands up to ridiculous abuse, and the waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex membrane keeps you dry and safe during all of your backcountry explorations. To earn the Arc'teryx SV (severe weather) moniker, the Alpha SV bib had to be tough. And, of course, this is Arc'teryx, so when we say tough, we mean it. The bib's main body fabric is N80p-Gore-Tex Pro 3-layer. N80p is a high-density nylon weave. The high-density construction minimizes the yarns' exposure to abrasion, which reduces damage to filaments to maintain surface integrity.

I bought these bibs specifically to do early/late skiing in the east and overall I am satisfied. I use these when the temp is right around the freezing mark and there is a mix of rain and snow. The waterproofing is excellent, the bibs work great to keep you dry. The fit is good for providing enough flexibility and movement while skiing. These are definitely geared more towards high-exertion activity rather than resort-style skiing, they do not provide much insulation. One complaint (reason for 4 vs 5 stars)- I wish they had pockets on the legs. The size runs a bit small, I am a medium on most items but had to upgrade to a large on these.

Bought these as a gift who for somebody who is 6’0” 180 pounds. Fit was perfect. Took them out hiking in the snow and he stayed dry. For comparison he wears a Medium in Prana stretch Zion pant and wore medium in these.
