Your grand plans of making a clean component swap from your old frame to that brand new aero speed demon has hit a bit of a snag in the brake mount department. Your old calipers just won't work with the direct mount standard, and the good news is that Shimano's here to save the day with its Ultegra 6810 Direct Mount Brake Calipers. Featuring a streamlined, low-profile design, these calipers mount via the double bolt attachment on your fork front and hide under the chainstays in the rear to deliver powerful braking when you need it and aerodynamic speed when you don't.

I bought the rear bottom-bracket mounted brake to replace my stock brakes and it’s a definite improvement.

These brakes function quite well. Their appearance, on the other hand, is not great. So far, to my knowledge, no direct mount brakes are as attractive as my old single pivots.

Easy to install, legendary Shimano durability and stopping power. Keep in mind, the rear is for the under-bottom-bracket mounting location. If you have a seatstay mounted brake, buy another front and swap the pad holders (or they will be facing the wrong way).
