I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I LOVE THIS BAG! The Topo Designs Trip Pack is the absolute perfect pack for day trips anywhere. It has two compartments - the smaller front zip pocket is perfect for phones, wallets, and any smaller item you want to bring but might not want in your pockets and the main compartment is big enough for anything else your day trip might require. I am always happily surprised with how much fits into this small pack, I'm a photographer and am constantly lugging around my DSLR camera and this pack accommodated it + all my other day trip items perfectly. You can easily fit a few extra layers, a towel, camera, and a water bottle with room to spare. I especially enjoy the large zipper pulls and the double handle at the top of the bag, it adds character and a little style, along with making picking it up and grabbing it on the go as well as unzipping it extra easy - small things that you might not think are that important or make a difference but I definitely appreciated them. The quality is also awesome, the fabric and make are really durable and stand up to sand and dirt, I've never worried about it ripping or tearing. I've used the Topo Designs Trip Pack for everything from day hikes and beach days to wandering around the farmers market and quick grocery store runs and I have yet to think of a complaint, I highly recommend this pack if you're in need of a small, super versatile and durable day pack!

Disclaimer: I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review Is my personal opinion. This pack is a solid, basic 18ish liter backpack with some nice features and rugged construction. I currently own a similarly sized Cotopaxi Batac which is lighter and compacts down much smaller but is significantly less durable than the Topo bag. The material on the topo bag is thick nylon with almost comically large zippers. The bag is heavier and likely won't make it as a hiking day pack for me but would be perfect for getting around town or as a very functional ‘day pack’ The pack opens really wide but only has two main compartments so while it is easy to get a lot in the small space it isnt easy to keep track of small things. I would love the addition of a water bottle pocket or other exterior mesh pocket for quick access items and easy organization. The zippers are so smooth and big it would take a pretty significant amount of dirt or sand to slow them down. Each comes with a nice pull tab so opening and closing the bag is really a breeze. The pack is comfortable on my back with single adjustment straps but is lacking a center strap for tightness when I bike with it. Overall I would recommend this bag if you are looking for something to last and can live without small organizational pockets. This will likely be stuffed into my carry on and used for all my ‘side adventures’ next time I fly.

I've been looking for a "fast pack" in the 8-12L range that can be professional but mostly just need something durable for all-purpose EDC without being full size or overly tactical (a book, eyeglasses, camera wallet, maybe a tablet or packable jacket) . Finally purchased the Trip Pack - I love the ballistic black, size is spot on, and the 2 top carrying handles are a great design. However, there are design features that I have seen in other more tactical bags (and even some packable travel bags) that beg for a "gen 2" update of the Trip Pack 1) hydration reservoir slot or external water bottle pocket, 2) quick access/hideaway/anti theft passport pocket (front exterior or sleeve pocket on side) 3) interior organization such as key rings/loops and a mesh pocket opposite the back panel/laptop sleeve for stowing gum, pens, keys, charger cord. I really want to keep the bag but I think I'm going to switch to the GoRuck Bullet or Eagle Creek Wayfinder Mini.

I use this as my everyday bag and love it! Made well and made in the USA - I love the materials, the extra pockets and the look. Lots of compliments carrying this bag. Not too big, not too little. Its pretty perfect for me. I'll easily chose this on my day hikes too.

This pack is the perfect addition to my ever growing pack collection. Small, simple and the interface with the Topo Travel Bag is incredible. Don't think I'll ever check a bag again with this combo. Fits my 13in laptop and iPad with enough room for a water bottle and extra layer or snack.
