You're a runner with a more natural stride, but you envy the heel cushion of a higher drop shoe. That's why your favorite road shoe is the Topo Athletic Ultrafly 2 Running Shoe. The 5mm drop still encourages that natural stride you feel most comfortable with while also giving some extra cushion under the heel.

Featuring a multi-density midsole, this shoe allows you to access two levels of cushioning: one that's soft and forgiving against your foot, and one that is firmer and more responsive against the ground. This midsole pairs with the Ortholite footbed to provide comfort and shock-absorption from ground impact. The Ortholite footbed also naturally eliminates odor-causing bacteria so you don't have to worry about smelly feet when you push your run for a few extra miles. Aiding in comfort during those extra miles, the lightweight, breathable mesh upper is now more durable than previous models for added longevity so you can keep tacking on miles.

I bought these in April 2020. It is only mid July 2020. I alternate between 2 other pairs, but keep these for runs that are only on pavement. They are designed as road shoes. And I did not start wearing them for several weeks. There is no way I have over 120 miles in these. I weigh less than 120. Not only is the heel tread worn down on one foot, but the other foot rolls significantly out to the left. Pain everywhere. Now, this is my third Ultrafly 2, so it's not a bad brand. AND the pink should last just as long as the blue. I weigh less now than when I bought my first pair. I also ran in the Hydroventure and loved the earlier version. The new ones just don't feel right. I see they have discontinued them. And the Ultraventures are better, but heavy and not really great on roads. ALL wear down faster than what is considered normal for a fitness runner like me. I don't race. My runs are about 3-5 miles and i alternate shoes throughout the week, so maximum average is 12 miles a week per shoe. So whatever the deal is with Topo, I have seriously mixed feelings about ever ordering again. 3 months in one pair of running shoes is just enough outside the return window that I wouldn't dare.
