SRAM’s XX1 group undoubtedly changed the face of mountain biking, perhaps forever. The narrow-wide chainring, combined with an astonishing redesign of the rear derailleur’s parallelogram, meant that single-ring drivetrains were no longer the chain-drop-prone hack jobs they once were. The XX1 Shifter is the power center for the group, and employs the X-Actuation cable pull ratio that makes all SRAM one-by derailleurs move.
The shifter is MatchMaker compatible, meaning you can mount it to the same clamp as your brakes or suspension lockouts, freeing up space on your bars and making your cockpit quite tidy.

Excellent choice. Put it through rough conditions, works amazing and really easy! Been using it for few years. Thinking on moving to eagle but this one works pretty much as the eagle!

Great shifter for 1x11 Sram rear derailleurs. The adjustable paddle makes things very ergonomic.

1x Rules - I'll get that out of the way early. You have damn near the range of a 2 or 3x setup, without the complexity and annoyance of a front derailleur. With the XX1 shifter, SRAM delivers a single lightweight, durable shifter that offers distinct shifts -- up to 5 in a single motion, yet not too easy so as to shift when you don't intend to.

Clean and effortless shifts keep me trucking up those grueling hills. In a pinch these shift quick and easy to get me in the right gear.

VERY HAPPY with this set! Shifting is so easy and like others have set, very simple and effortless to get through the 11 gears. Not to mention it is very quick which is a must.

Purchased this to complete my full XX1 drivetrain and couldn't be happier. First off, I love the fact that you can upshift up to 5 gears at a time by pushing the trigger all the way down. Can easily go from 11th gear to 1st gear in two strokes. Second, I love the fact that this comes with the coated and slippery shifter cable. It makes shifting that much quicker and smoother. (The desc. says it is Gore Ride-on brand cabling but I couldn't find any brand markings indicating this. The cable is coated with a black plastic-like substance and is also lubed) Easy adjustment for position change and MMX compatibility. Lightweight carbon housing cover and triggers to boot! Costs a few bucks more than the next models down however these are dollars well spent in my opinion. Go for it!!

The shifting is very precise. I keep thinking, if Shimano ever does an electronic mountain group set, would is shift better. I don't really think so. The shifts are super light and require almost no effort.

Would love to give this a 5 star review. The shifter works great but the carbon lever is not very durable. While climbing out of the saddle on a tech section it got wrapped up in my shirt and cracked off. I have X01 on another bike and not only is the shifter lighter the lever is also aluminum. CC took care of me on the swap and I replaced the XX1 with an X01. This happened with about 300 miles on the bike and no crashes that could have weakened it.

I really like this shifter. It is very durable and can downshift 3 gears at once which is awesome if you have to drop your cassette in a hurry. The shifter comes with a nice Kevlar cable that is super durable and light. The barrel adjuster has large knobs that make tuning your bike really easy. This is a well thought out shifter that works great. If you have any questions about the XX1 drive train feel free to give me a call and I will be happy to talk to you about it. Here is my contact information: My direct line 801.736.6396 ex. 4389. Feel free call to me anytime, I?m always happy to talk about bikes or gear or the weather. Whatever works! I?m here Mon, Tues and Friday 1:30-10pm MST and Saturday 9-5:30 as well as Sunday 10-7. I look forward to speaking with you.

For $175, it had better shift amazing, and it does. The shifting is quick and exact. you can only shift to smaller rings one at a time (still quick), but you can cover the whole cassette the other direction in two big pushes which is really great when you turn a corner and roll up to a steep climb. Also, i've seen a claimed weight of 105 grams. BOOYA.

I made the switch to XX1 this year (2013) and I am in love, I have been a long time X.0 user and have always thought the SRAM solution was unbeatable. But getting rid of the front derailleur and having such a wide range of gearing options in just 11 gears is absolute perfection. I can't imagine ever going back to the old system.
