As if a ski binding built for backcountry touring and all-mountain skiing wasn't enough, Salomon redesigned the S/Lab Shift MNC 13 Ski Binding with a lower weight and a more aggressive performance in and out of the resort. Its innovative, versatile design accepts boots with tech bindings for touring in the backcountry, and then locks in like an alpine binding for downhill riding with DIN-certified release ratings. In fact, this particular S/Lab Shift boasts the highest DIN rating out of any MNC binding from Salomon. On the uphill, the Shift's dual heel risers assist you when the skin track gets steep. Salomon made the binding out of carbon-infused material to keep weight down and stiffness high.

Bought this setup to get ready for the ski season...hoping in-area isn't a sh*tshow but if it is...I wanna be ready to backcountry. I conferred with a buddy, in the know, and he recommended this binding.

I love these bindings. While they do weight a teeny bit more than other touring setup, the compromise is WELL worth it. The exchange for a full toe piece instead of the 2-pin system ensures your boots won't pop out of the pin if you charge hard. I love that I can use these bindings at both resorts and backcountry days. (And....a few extra grams just makes you stronger!!!)
