Taking design cues from the podium-crushing P.R.O. Leader Shoe, the Pearl Izumi Men's ELITE Road V5 Cycling Shoe maximizes power transfer while maintaining a supple, foot-conforming fit. Eliminating the lasting board of traditional cycling shoes, Pearl's Unibody construction drops the stack height to a mere five millimeters, which is beneficial for transferring every watt of available energy into forward acceleration.

As the stiffest sole in Pearl's line, the Carbon Power Plate delivers unwavering power transfer when you're sprinting forward and chasing KOMs on alpine passes. The 3-layer seamless composite upper maintains a supportive, glove-like fit. Ventilation ports increase air flow on summer rides when the tarmac radiates with fiery heat.

One of the ELITE Road V5's biggest selling points is the ultra-precise fit its Boa IP1 dial complemented with a supportive forefoot strap. The micro-adjustable Boa IP1 dial gives you the ability to fine-tune its fit and feel to your exact preferences, virtually eliminating pressure points and excess slop. And when it's time to bail from your shoes, simply pull up on the dial to quickly release the lacing system.

The shoe is super stiff making energy transfer very efficient. I have a slightly wider foot but don’t wear wide shoes and these fit perfectly. The size 48 worked out perfect, I typically wear a size 13 in all athletic shoes. The reflective shoes are awesome and really light up at night. The Boa is very secure and tightens evenly across my foot. You can also loosen them without having to pop them up and start over so micro adjustment is easy. The insole I’m guessing is on the mid to high arch, my foot is low to mid however they are comfortable on the bike but noticeable while walking so NBD.

I replaced a similar style Pearl Izumi shoe that lasted >5 years and >25K miles before the fiber loops that support the Boa closure broke in one shoe. I've got >100 miles on the new pair and they're very comfortable. I wear a 12-½ to 13 dress shoe and the EU 47 is the right fit. Very pleased!

I wish all websites would make it standard for persons to enter personal physical sizing like Backcountry.com in profile to help others with sizing decisions. I'm 6'4" 240lbs I wear a size 13 Nike and Size 14 New Balance, Merrell, Solomon and Lowa. My foot is narrow also. I ordered these in a size 48 and they are absolutely perfect! Light, fit snug only in the areas you want. I had zero issues mounting my SPD-Sl cleats. Per the directions I applied grease to the cleat screw threads and the face of the screw where it contacts the cleat. I made a small adjustment on the cleats after 2 miles this morning and after that I never thought about them again for the rest of a quick 20 miles. The BOA system is everything and more than I had hoped for. I did not know when I ordered but the Right BOA is righty tighty, the left is Lefty tighty. Also once tightened if you want to adjust on the fly you just back it off a click or two. For full release just pull up and to lock in push down. Awesome design.
