Your last adventure race went something like this: you navigated on foot through a labyrinth of trees until you reached a river, hopped in your canoe and paddled over to where your mountain bike was waiting, jumped on your bike and pedaled over a mountain pass. Or maybe this just described one of your typical weekend days. Whatever the case, the Osprey Women's Tempest 20 Backpack is a perfect lightweight companion for your adventurous day exploits. This panel-loading backpack holds up to twenty pounds of gear and water, and keeps things organized in convenient pockets. It features a women-specific fit and breathable, cushioned comfort to keep you from conjuring visions of chucking the bag downriver before you reach the end of your journey.

The hip-belt's ErgoPull adjustment makes it easy to tighten or loosen on the fly, and the shoulder straps, harness position, and sternum strap can also be adjusted for a perfect fit tailored to your anatomy and load. The ventilating ridged foam back panel keeps you fresh while padding your back through long day hikes or multi-sport excursions. A pull-out LidLock helmet attachment fits through the vents on your bike helmet to secure it to the front of the pack, loop and bungee attachments hold tools and trekking poles, and multiple smaller pockets hold items you'd like to quickly access.

I wanted to love this. I’ve been on the hunt for a day pack that has better ventilation to avoid the back sweats. This one really wasn’t better than the one I have. Why don’t they have day packs with external frames to keep the load off your back and allow for ventilation? I don’t love the pockets on the waist belt. They sit back too far to be easily accessible and don’t fit a phone. Too expensive to keep when it doesn’t solve the ventilation problem. Good looking pack though.

I have been using this bag for about a month for daily dog walks and a couple of short hikes. I can carry everything I need with me, and I love that water bottles actually stay put in the mesh outer pockets. The bag has a very comfortable fit and you can adjust just about every aspect (shoulder straps, waist, height on the back / shoulders, sternum strap); that being said, the waist strap seems to ride a little higher than other similar bags I've had (not annoying, just noticeable). The mesh back panel keeps the back a little cooler than other bags I have been using - it's not sitting directly on my back with a light load, but still gets pretty sweaty (there's only so much one can do about that in the Southeastern US in summer!). Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and can't wait to take it on a longer trip or day hike.

This Tempest 20 Liter backpack is a great option for your hiking adventures. The size is perfect for day trips, with enough room to pack your puffy, rain jacket, first aid kit, & trail snacks, or maybe some sport climbing gear & helmet! I consider this more of an ideal hiking pack than a climbing pack, though, just with how it's designed. My favorite part of the design is the super comfy hip belt (with snack pockets!!!) and the amount of adjustability that you have, and don't normally get with day packs. The back and shoulder mesh ensure breathability, too, which is nice for warmer days out. Definitely recommend for a hiking day pack or travel pack!

My husband had planned a day hike for us and I knew that I didn't want to take my big pack and needed something smaller... I knew that I would need a few things so it needed to be big enough but the smaller the better for me! This pack came and I instantly liked the look of it, and it had pockets enough for what I wanted. I tried it on and got it all adjusted and bam, just like that I knew I really liked it. I am 5'1" give or take and I opted for the xs/s and it seems to work great.

This is a fantastic all around backpack for hikes. Great pockets, sturdy zippers, fits well for a woman's build. The backpack is designed and engineered with outdoor users in mind. If you haven't made the switch to a hiking backpack for your excursions, give this one a go.

I found this pack to be the perfect size for a shoulder season hike. I was able to fit a puffy jacket and fleece inside this pack along with water, my wallet, and other essentials. The perfect size for holding all the layers you need for those tricky fall temperatures! The back suspension system is everything you expect from Osprey - quality, quality, quality!

Picked this up for my fiance to use on day hikes. Perfect size for day hikes. Reservoir sleeve ensures hydration. Enough room for snacks, layers, headlamp, guidebooks and whatever other accessories you want to bring along. Trekking pole carry system makes it easy to stash your poles and retrieve them without removing your pack. Back panel breathes well, hip belt is very comfortable. Inner mesh pocket keeps your small items like keys and wallet easily accessible and not lost in your pack. Pack has a slim design that doesn't expand far from your back and keeps the pack from feeling bulky when fully loaded down. Very well thought out design made with Ospreys classic high quality craftsmanship.

I recently bought this pack before a long trip in Jackson, WY/GTNP and I am so glad I did! The size/fit was great (I am about 5'3 and got the S/M). The pack was able to fit all the gear I needed for various hikes (e.g., 4 miles, 20 miles), including a ton of water, snacks, coats/jackets, and more. It was also very comfortable to wear for hours at a time. All of the various pockets were helpful, including the ones on the hips that allowed me to have my phone/camera available quickly in case of a good photo opportunity. The bag itself has held up in many rough conditions already, although I have only had it for a short period of time. It seems very sturdy and I anticipate having it for a long time! The color (magenta) is great and hides dirt/dust/sunscreen (woops) well. I've used my camelbak water bag and that fit in the pack perfectly. I highly recommend!

A great backpack for day hiking or every day use. The main pocket is very spacious. Really like the color though I would describe it as more of a magenta than purple. Well built and comfy!

I was super excited about getting this pack. It has many features I was interested in using like the trekking pole attachments, helmet clips, and had a compartment for my reservoir. Unfortunately, when I received this pack, I purchased the small/medium and it didn't fit. The hip belt literally sat just under my rib cage - with the shoulder straps pulled all the way out. In addition to that, it turned out that I was too wide to even get the hip belt down up. I was super disappointed that this pack didn't work out but it appears it was intended for smaller framed women. Seemed like a great pack - as long as you have a petite frame.

Great pack! Has a lot of compartments and tighteners. Can fit A LOT into this small pack. Very comfortable, even with a full camel bak - used it on an 8 mile hike w/ 2000 elevation gain...in the snow and it never hurt the back or shoulders! Very comfortable. definitely recommend!

The Tempest 20 will quickly become your favorite pack for a ton of different day adventures. Designed with women in mind, the fit is phenomenally comfortable. Osprey updated their “AirScape” backpanel ventilation channel, which keeps you cool in hot weather, and makes a major difference in the comfort category. The shoulder and sternum straps, as well as the harness and hip belt are all adjustable to fit a range of different body types. I love that the Tempest has tons of secure and organized storage and an external hydration sleeve (my CamelBak fits just fine!) It has all the pockets you could ever want, and they are conveniently located for easy access. I’m confident I could find a use for this pack 365 days a year. A very versatile pack with all the bells and whistles!

I was looking for an all around bag that has organization and a bit of structure, but still very light. This bag has been perfect for my biking and hiking! I really love the pocket on the left shoulder strap as well - perfect for my sunglasses! If you have any specific questions about this pack, or are trying to decide which is best for you, I'd be happy to help out! Before Osprey had a women's version, I used the Talon 22 and loved it. Now that Osprey has made the Tempest, it is my go to, always. Hike, ski, travel, festivals, around town, the Tempest 20 rocks my world! Leta Osprey Rep
