I got this after my first bikepacking trip, where I realized I needed a way to get to things quickly and easily without stopping and taking off my camelbak to get things. I haven't bikepacked with this yet but It seems like it will fit the bill. I got the smallest one they make because it's only going to carry my phone, chapstik, maybe a rain shell, snacks. It's plenty big enough for all that, plus it has a clear window on top for a map or phone that you can see while riding. It opens with a magnet closer toward you when riding, and that seems very well thought out. It also locks. It was easy to install, I have a carbon fiber handlebar and it attaches with a cord that you pull tight. They say not to put it on carbon fiber but I just wrapped some waterproof electric tape on the bars where the cord goes, and honestly, I can't see where there will be any trouble at all. This is a mountain bike so these handlebars have seen some rough treatment and been just fine. I'm looking forward to trying it out on a trip, but I'm fairly confident it'll be just what I needed.

While I haven't actually mounted the bag, I took it out of the box, attached the mounting bracket to the bag, and positioned it approximately where it should be for regular use. Based on that exercise, I'm fairly confident that my hands wouldn't be able to rest comfortably on the hoods without rubbing against the bag. I'd imagine this would quickly become annoying, so unfortunately the bag is going back. It's a shame, it seems well-designed and durable like the rest of Ortlieb's products.

Box had been opened and hardware packet tore open with parts loose. Attachment cable was kinked in places where it was attached before. Item was not listed as used. I would have returned item but I had to replace mount with optional extension mount anyways.
