Packing Northwave's SLW2 closure system, the Men's Sonic 2 Plus Wide Cycling Shoe wraps your foot like a glove with its micro-adjustable dial and nifty release mechanism that are extremely quick and intuitive to operate, even while you're pedaling. The shoe itself is built on a wider last that won't pinch or bind bigger feet like a traditionally shaped cycling shoe.
The SLW2 upper adjustment system evenly distributes pressure with lacing guides, so you're not plagued with pressure points that make your feet scream in pain. Not only does it allow for precise tightening inputs like other dials on the market, but it features a handy release tab that opens the entire shoe in one lifting motion and loosens it in tiny increments with the downward push of a button, in case you over tighten it.
Besides its ingenious closure system, the Sonic 2 Plus Cycling Shoe uses NorthWave's Thermowelded Layer Construction process, which seamlessly welds a lightweight microfiber to large mesh vents that disperse heat as you start to sweat on brutal climbs and strenuous sprints. You'll find this construction not only keeps your feet pleasantly dry and cool, but it masterfully conforms to the shape of your foot without bunching and creating pinch points. For even greater foot retention, Northwave's integrated heel system sucks your heel in place to maximize power transfer and reduce the rubbing that only leads to irritation.
Seeing it's designed for discerning roadies, the Sonic 2 Plus Cycling Shoe comes with an NRG Air Carbon Reinforced sole that lays down serious power when speed and efficiency are paramount. The sole is ventilated in multiple areas to disperse excess heat inside the shoe and accommodates both standard 3-bolt road and SPD-style cleats (cleat plate is not included for SPD cleats). SPD compatibility means you can also wear it while training and racing on your cross-country bike.
