MSR DeepDish Bowl for Sale, Reviews, Deals and Guides

I cannot think of a reason why anyone would make a backpacking bowl that does not stack? I would love to know why these bowls do not stack? I am completely baffled. MSR stoves are amazing and like a part of our family. Big time bummer. Shame on me for ordering 3 and assuming high elevation supplies made by high elevation specialists would be designed to economize space.

I started off with the DeepDish plates and I really like them and although they have tall edges that work like a bowl they are bit wide and flat for when you want to eat something that belongs in a bowl like oatmeal or something saucy. I love the material and prefer it over metal, it is easier to hold and it does a really good job of blocking heat so you can comfortably eat on your lap.

I needed a multi purpose dish for backpacking, and this is what I ended up with. I am really happy how it stood up to hot items, since I didn't feel like I was burning my hands while trying to eat. Easy to clean and pretty deep so you can fit a lot of food, which is always welcome after a long day hiking. Doesn't pack down extremely, small but for me that was not an issue since I had plenty of space in my pack.

I was considering the MSR Deep Dish Bowl alongside the Seat To Summit Collapsible Bowl. The Sea To Summit would pack better (which might be a consideration for some) but the DeepDish felt sturdier in my hand and being cautious about loosing precious nutrition in the backcountry due to the walls collapsing accidentally I opted for the MSR. I'm very pleased with my choice. The bowl with its high walls is suitable for both solid food and liquids such as soups. It holds good amount of food and is comfortable to hold without much slipping. (You have to be more careful if your hand are wet, then the material tends to slip a little). Once re-hydrated we poured our freezer bag meals in the bowl for easier and more enjoyable backcountry dining, some items such as oatmeal or ramen noodles were successfully cooked straight in the bowl by pouring hot water over the ingredients.
