From trekking through alpine meadows to climbing saddles high above the treeline, the Mammut Men's Runbold Shorts help make the journey just as rewarding as the destination. Made from a robust stretch fabric, these shorts stand up to use and abuse on the trail and give you the freedom to move. When you're in the middle of a strenuous climb, the fabric wicks sweat and dries quickly, so you're not left feeling damp and uncomfortable when you stop to rest your legs and eat a snack.

I love Mammut products so it pains me to write this, but they got it all wrong with this model. Unless you're absolutely skin and bone, this won't fit properly. I have a couple Mammut pants size 32 (other models) that fit perfectly (I'm 5'10" / 160 lbs). On this one, I bought a 32 initially and was too small. Went up to a 34 and still small (fits in the waist, but very tight across the hips (even though the material is very elastic). Same goes for the thighs (and I'm not overly muscular). Love the color and material, but not the fit. Returned.

I wear a 34 waist comfortably (5’8” 195 lbs) but have relatively muscular legs. These fit true in the waist but the legs were truly skin tight. I could not use them which is a shame because the material is quite nice.

Should’ve done more research. As others have already mentioned, these run small. Put them on and they were spandex tight. I couldn’t even try to button them. So small I still think it’s the wrong tag on a pair of shorts. I wear a 33 or 34 on any other short/pant.

These shorts are being sold at a premium. Two minutes after I put them on, the front button/rivet pulled through the material.

I bought these as a gift for my boyfriend. He's worn these shorts several days hiking in the back country and appreciates how comfortable and well-made they are. The shorts have a small amount of stretch so he plans to climb in the in the near future. He is usually a size 36 but the 38 fit him best this time.

I like the fit. It’s slim in the legs and thighs. The stretch fabric is great except I feel like the waist stretches a bit much and need a belt. If I went down a size the waist would be perfect but I think it would be too tight in the legs. Overall I’m happy with the product and bought some other colors.

I own several Mammut shorts and pants and purchased these based on the sizing of their other products. The waist (32) fit well, but through the thighs and bottom hem were snug (tighter than "fitted") for this BC skier's legs and looked goofy. More of a bike liner short fit as another reviewer mentioned. Their other products that I own tend to be non-restrictive, towards athletic fit or loose, rather than "skinny jeans" fit. That being said, the material was soft and stretchy. Quality looked good and typical Mammut level. Great looking color.

But they run extra slim and I have to return them. If you like them snug they may be just right but plan on a slim fit

6’2” 188, 34 waist in pants, I ordered the 34, definitely fitted in the leg and lap area; but material is stretchy and comfortable. Great pocket options, functional short, and a nice length to cover quads when bushwhacking. A little longer than “golf shorts”, but has an attractive look (not too long where you look like a pirate). Ordered the dark blue and paired them with red nylon Patagonia belt. Only question with fitted leg might be very long hikes or long trail runs, if you want looser fit in your stride/against your quad.

Mammut is known for their high--quality goods--my pack has been with me for years with no wear and tear. These shorts are a great fit for me and yes they will show off your quads and seem snug while sitting but standing, running, climbing or biking the fabric moves with you. Fine detailing and well-made.

Pros: Slim fit. Stretchy material. Won't make you look like a cholo on easter. Cons: Inseam is a bit too long. They sit at the top of my knee cap. It'd be better if they were 1-2 inches shorter. I use these for hiking and rock climbing.

I was excited to get these shorts at a great price, but they are not made for someone with an athletic build. I ordered size 32 and the waist was fine. The problem was the glutes and thighs. The shorts were tight like spandex biking shorts.
