If you’re on a budget and don’t want to throw a rent payment into one task-specific bag just to do the same thing again when you pick up another sport, grab one of these. Bought one a few years back for some section hiking of the AT and was immediately impressed. For about 100$ (got it on sale somewhere) it fit my needs, and carried my gear, perfectly without having to pay for any of the fancy features I didn’t entirely need. Since then I’ve brought it up various alpine ascents, from the Northeast to Chamonix, an assortment of ice and rock trips and my fair share of ski tours (not to mention a few hundred miles of hiking and paddling in between). The stiff internal frame keeps it rigid, good lumbar padding keeps it in place and the 50 liter sizing keeps everything you need on your back without letting you bring too much. Endlessly durable, without being too heavy, I’ve yet to kill this pack and I’ll keep carrying it until I do, I’m spite of the fact that I’ve since acquired some more technically specific packs. But it, love it and try your best to break it, I dare you.

I've bought Kelty products off and on for years but I have to say that recently (in the past 3 or 4 years) it seems they're really making strides in improving their products! I bought this pack for my 17 year old son because I have an older version of the same model that I absolutely adore. This one really appears to be an improvement on that one even! Everything on this pack is common sense and very useful with one exception... I wish the zippers came down a little further. This, however, is a minor concern and it's a matter of personal preference anyway. All things considered... you'd be hard pressed to find a better option even considering packs well above this price point. I had to come back and edit my previous review. I LOVE this pack. I bought another for my wife. It fits right and is big enough for short backpacking trips if you plan effectively. I still highly recommend this pack!

I bought this pack as a gift for someone who is getting into backpacking. It has all of the features the more expensive packs have but comes at a much more reasonable price point. The Material and Construction of the pack seem to be solid and I assume this pack will last a long time.

Gave this to a friend for Christmas and so far haven't heard any complaints. She's a big backpacker so I picked this pack for it's mid-size and abundance of pockets. I especially thought that stretchy pockets and extra gear loops was unique. It's perfect for an overnighter or so.

This bag is perfect for backpacking and has plenty of pockets and places to put things. It's very comfortable and is plenty large for all my gear.

I bought this backpack for my son and he's had absolutely no complaints about it. I usually don't load him with more than 30 lbs. of gear. It fits his body just fine and because of it's medium load capacity, it's perfect for all occasions, be it a day hike or an overnighter. It distributes the weight quite well and is very comfortable. To date, I've had absolutely no complaints from him and we've had some brutal outings. That says a lot about the bag. This backpack will definitely be coming along with us on many, many more trips . Definitely a great bag for the money!

I hunt National Forest and spend a good deal of time off trail. Since hearing and sight are very important in getting game, I got this pack because it isn't too tall to block hearing and sight from behind and to my sides. It's not too wide so it's not bad to snag on brush and branches. This pack replaced my old Army surplus ALICE pack, and I shaved off about 5 pounds in weight in the bargain. There's enough room inside to store my coveralls or coat and plenty of pockets to store a range finder, binoculars, and the extra odd bits of equipment. The pockets on the waist belt are great for storing water and food for quick access. A fixed blade knife with a dangler sheath attached to my belt completes the rig.

This bad is super solid. Plenty of space for stuff and a great design exterior pocket. Lots of clips and straps for that extra summin summin, well sized for travelling and overnight trips. This thing will take you through hell and back. Highly recommend

I recently purchased this backpack for my fiancé, and he's very impressed! Very versatile pack. It's perfect for any situation- day hikes with our dog, overnight camping trips, backcountry skiing, or travel - and is very sturdy with excellent back support. He says it's going to be his new go-to back for any situation. Highly recommended!

This is by far the best designed backpack I have owned. And I have owned 3 packs of this size in my life. I have been using it daily for about 3 months for lugging around my martial arts & gym gear and also for trips with my 3 year old (she just grew out of the stroller and we are still in a place where I need to carry all her stuff). The pockets are well located, functional and deep. The main pack area is well designed for accessibility, and the synch-down strap system is basically perfect. The shoulder straps are comfortable and the back is designed to allow air between you and the pack. There is a good youtube video demonstration for the pack as well. (Just google it.) I highly recommend this product. (And no, I do not work for Kelty. I just really like the pack.) Cheers.
