From pre-dawn ice wall ascents to early mornings on the skin track, the Backcountry Comp Grid Pullover delivers breathable performance and smart insulation. The hybrid construction uses a mix of grid and hard fleece to create warmth where you want it and breathability where you need it; the fleece is thicker at your core, and breathable in places where perspiration is likely—the back and underarms. The hood is built to discourage ice build up during winter sports, with laser-cut ventilation and a shaped binding, so you're free to keep it equipped even while you're working hard. A nice dose of stretch in the construction ensures full mobility whether you're wielding ski poles or an ice axe, and the strategically placed seams keep chafing to a minimum beneath your pack.

I'm liking this fleece, it's a nice fit for running and the hood will fit well under a helmet if necessary. Not sure why the dual zippers on the zipper but sure, let's go with it! The only thing is the thumb holes don't seem to align right with my thumbs, not a biggie. It has a nice length, would fit well tucked into ski pants, or a bit longer with leggings. Agreed the arms are pretty tight, I can get my arms in fine, but it does seem to fit a little tighter at the elbow.

No one else has mentioned this in the reviews, so maybe it's just the copy I got, but I'm waffling on whether or not to keep this because while I love the materials/design and it fits me well nearly everywhere, the sleeves of this top are weirdly tight. I'm 5'2", 105#, an XXS in Patagonia and a 00/0 in street clothes and need to wear a child's size watch strap, and the sleeves are so tight I cannot push them up my arms at all. I guess it's possible they're supposed to fit like arm warmers, but they're just really. Tight. Size XS fits me well everywhere else, it's just the forearms are like sausage casings. I'm wondering if it'll be better if I exchange the one I got for another XS. I wouldn't want to go up a size in the body.

I would say this runs a bit on the small side so it fits snuggly which is good if you are moving around a lot like hiking. I do wish it had pockets. I had no pockets in my pants when wearing this and given the length I kept trying to put my hands in pockets that don't exist. Also, the sleeve pocket is a pain to unzip. I have to pull my sleeve down and very taught to get it to unzip. not exactly convenient to get in and out of so I guess it would be good for keys or something you don't want to access often.

My second item of Backcountry branded pieces and it's also fantastic. Warm. Fits PERFECTLY. Not too loose, not too tight. Also, it looks great and is made well. And the Backcountry price points are fantastic. I'm typically a medium (I range from 140-150lbs) and this fit perfectly. I would say it would fit someone who is between 140-160lbs.

I was a little hesitant on this one. Wasn’t sure how I’d like it but for the sale price I decided to try it out. Glad I did. It’ll be perfect for layering on the chillier hikes. I’m 5”8, 160lbs, athletic build. I’m usually between small and medium. I got the medium, and glad I did. If you’re between sizes, go up.

Very warm and soft w/o the bulk! It is pretty fitted, so you may consider also trying a size up

I bought this and absolutely love it. It fits a little snug, so if you are between sizes, i would suggest sizing up! The fit is amazing. It has a longer length on the torso, so this is never riding up. (An issue i have had with other baselayers) My favorite feature is the thumb holes! This makes if very convenient when slipping this under a shell. Great as an under layer or for a warm mid season fleece. Used this backcountry skiing and it breathed well while keeping me warm.
