h4{font-weight: normal;}Why We Like ItEarly morning ascents, all day outings, multi-day hut trips on a touring set-up—these are the things that pair well with our Hayden Pants. Lightweight, breathable, and full of stretch, we wanted these to be ideal for longer days in the backcountry where the skintracks are steep but the weather is cooperating. Created with Gore-Tex Infinium, the fabric includes bombproof wind protection for navigating exposed ridgelines, and a new level of breathability that puts microclimate comfort first. While we might not be inclined to venture out into stormy weather, we do find it rather nice when tackling tricky kickturns and steep bootpacks without getting bogged down by body vapor. With our legs unencumbered by the classic hardshell construction of olden times, we're free to chase those fresh turns all day long.
Product Features BrandOur passion, Gore’s ExpertiseOur gear-loving expertise in the mountains goes back more than 20 years, and Gore-Tex is one of our favorite names in the game. Given our passion for the outdoors and Gore’s industry-defining expertise, it only makes sense that we teamed up to produce outerwear that defends on storm days and delivers comfort when we’re playing hard.
ConstructionBreathable performance for active winter pursuitsEven the techiest of hardshells can leave us clammy on the skintrack, but we’ve taken advantage of Gore-Tex’s newest fabric in order to feel our best in the backcountry. Made to favor comfort and performance over waterproofness, this innovative technology is more flexible, breathable, and functional than classic Gore-Tex, making it ideal for steep, switchback-riddled ascents. It also boasts a Windstopper membrane to cut the chill during windswept traverses. Low-weight breathability for chasing goals3-layer construction is more breathable, more packable, more durable, and lighter than its 2-layer counterpart, so it thrives during strenuous efforts in the worst weather. This construction features a technical laminate attached directly to a face fabric and a backer. Though it’s called 3-layer, the design works more like a single layer that seals out the weather while releasing excess heat and moisture. In this process, the face and backer provide protection while the laminate does the heavy lifting of sealing out water and releasing moisture. Keeps even the sneakiest moisture at bayEven the highest-rated membranes won’t do a whole lot of good if the seams between aren’t defended. We fully seal every seam on our technical outerwear, so melting snow doesn’t find its way into baselayers.
FitLow-bulk mobilityA slim fit keeps excess fabric to a minimum for more efficient skinning on steep ascents, with a minimalist design that pairs better with touring packs and alpine harnesses.
Recommended UseBuilt for backcountry touringFrom their slim fit to their Infinium construction, our touring outerwear balances comfort with protection. We’ve designed these pieces to be low-bulk and breathable with a minimalist design that keeps weight manageable. Thoughtfully placed pockets assist with gear storage for items like skins or a beacon, and stowed gear is always accessible, even while wearing a pack.

These pants are what I've been looking for! I tend to overheat easily so having pants with suspenders, but not bibs, is key for me. The suspender's velcro adjustment system was well designed to eliminate pressure points over my shoulders and chest while the waistband adjustability felt comfortable and easy to use as well. The fit of these is slim and tapered, helping me look good on the slopes (arguably one of the most important aspects of these pants). However - number one for me was the abundance of well-placed pockets, giving me lots of options to stick a bar, beacon, or even my phone to snap the occasional photo. Breathability-wise, I was easily able to shed excess heat with the side zips and the permeability of the fabric. Conversely, I still stayed warm and dry when the wind got kicking and snow started blowing. Overall, these are some awesome pants that I'll be wearing as much as possible this season out here in the Wasatch.

I am a huge fan of these pants. I am 5'10 with a 33' waist, and the medium size fit to perfection. I tested out the size large from the Backcountry employee Gearcloset, and I was drowning in them. But I liked them so much I bought my own pair in the smaller size and couldnt be happier. The full zips on the sides of the pants make it so you can easily regulate your temperature if it's getting too toasty. I'm also a huge fan of Gore-Tex Infinium in a soft shell pant. It's super water resistant, and 100% wind proof! This last weekend I was touring up Gobblers Knob in the Wasatch and the winds were HOWLING, easily 30-40+mph! I didn't even have base layers under my soft shells and I couldn't feel a stitch of wind, I was just worried about myself blowing away (you can see the cornices building in the attached photo). I really can't think of anything that I dislike about these pants. 100% recommend.

Gore-Tex Infinium is an amazing product! Don't let the white diamond deter you from buying these pants because they aren't the black diamond Gore label. Infinium really just means the piece isn't 100% waterproof - the fabric will still keep you 100% dry, but maybe the zippers aren't taped which means they put it into their white label Gore-Tex Infinum line. These pants were made with ski touring in mind because they are super stretchy and Gearheads implemented ski touring innovations into the design, like the gusseted crotch and articulated knees so your walk though the winter wonderland is smooth and easy. (as easy as the terrain allows) The last thing I'd like to mention is the fit. I am a standard medium (5'11) 175lbs and these fit great. I prefer the velcro adjustment on the "suspenders" because it allows for them to lay flat and not have any uncomfortable pressure points when i'm wearing a pack. The more tailored fit on the pant is also super flattering, and makes for some nice pics. (for the gram of course)
