The Arc'teryx Shashka IS Jacket is designed to keep you comfortable and protected from the elements during backcountry ski and snowboard tours. By combining breathability, warmth, and weather protection, the Shashka keeps you prepared for changing weather conditions while keeping you comfortable on both the skin track and through your earned turns. And with Arc'teryx standard features such as durable materials, an integrated powder skirt, and a helmet compatible StormHood, you're ready to face the elements for a day on the slopes.

The jacket's Gore-Tex construction keeps you dry through snow storms and deep powder while allowing vapor to escape to help prevent overheating. Additionally, the Shashka's insulation, Octa Loft, provides warmth for cold morning starts while maintaining a comfortable micro climate to keep you comfortable on the ascent and decent. For even further breathability, the Shashka has underarm zippered vents that can quickly dump excess heat as the sun starts to rise.

I have tried just about every ski shell out there and without a doubt, the Shashka IS is my favorite. It is the most comfortable ski shell I've ever worn! It is a very versatile jacket that's perfect for the resort and ski touring, as it has a light layer of highly breathable Octaloft insulation in the body and comfortable wicking material that glides easily over layers in the arms. Its 2L Gore-tex construction makes it completely wind and waterproof and the big pit zippers help make it extra breathable. The outer fabric is super soft and flexible and also provides great range of motion with the articulated elbows. I have large shoulders, so I really appreciated the room and flexibility. The Slide N Lock Powder Skirt integrates with other Arc'teryx ski pants and is made of super stretchy, ultralight, breathable mesh. It is so comfortable you barely notice it. I've worn it in conditions ranging from 35 degrees with a Phase SL underneath to 5 degrees and windy with a Proton LT and Vertices hoody underneath. I wear a large in this and all other Arc'teryx ski shells. I found the Shashka IS to be true to size with comfortable room for layering while maintaining a flattering fit. I'm 5'4 and the 27.75" center back length is long enough to provide the coverage I want without being too long. I typically wear it with the Dark Illucinate Sentinel AR pants and it matches perfect. I definitely recommend this jacket! If you have any question about this or any Arc'teryx product, I'm the women's Arc'teryx Ambassador here at Backcountry and will be glad to help.

First of all, the fit of this jacket is amazing! I hate how women's jackets are usually wide at the waist and short at the hip. I ordered a Large, and this jacket is PLENTY long in the arms and the length. It is also SO incredibly comfortable. It is truly a shell jacket, but I love the breathable insulation that really kept me warm without overheating on the slopes. The GoreTex feature held up to super wet snow in the early season and will also be perfect for Spring conditions as well. The hood is helmet compatible and the powder skirt kept the snow out. This is by far my favorite ski shell I have ever worn! LOVE LOVE LOVE it and it is well worth the price!

Alll in all we want to find a jacket for all our need for this winter. For when we are all chasing pow, getting caught in the rain, this is the jacket that you need. There is zero restriction in mobility and the material gives you that stretch we all need when we are moving! I found myself caught in the rain and snow during a hike and there was no way there was water getting in there. My pants and shoes were drenched but every thing that the jacket covers was bone dry! The lining helps trap the heat when you are working hard. The look itself is so awesome, and gives so much room for your base and mid-layers without the restriction you get in mobility when layering. I took this up big and little cottonwood canyon and down to St. George for my few remaining hikes this season. But, I cannot wait to put this through the ringer this year during the ski season!
